BEIJING – The China-Laos Railway has facilitated over 62.5 million passenger trips and shipped more than 72.5 million metric tons of cargo in just four years, showcasing its accelerating growth and solidifying its status as a vital “golden passage” for regional connectivity.
According to China State Railway Group, the railway has maintained safe and stable operations since its launch, with both passenger and freight volumes rising sharply this year.
Since its opening in December 2021, the 1,035-kilometer line linking Kunming in Southwest China’s Yunnan province and Vientiane, the capital of Laos, has significantly reduced travel times, lowered logistics costs, and enhanced cross-border mobility, injecting fresh momentum into the economic and social development along the China-Laos corridor.
China Railway stated it will continue enhancing service quality and expanding transport capacity to further strengthen the railway’s role as an efficient international logistics channel.
