China’s auto sales, production exceed 10m in first 4 months

In exports, China shipped 1.937 million vehicles from January to April, up 6 percent year-on-year, according to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers data. Of these, NEV exports reached 642,000 units, surging by 52.6 per cent year-on-year.

BEIJING – China’s automobile production and sales have historically surpassed 10 million units in the first four months of this year, according to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Monday.

From January to April, the country produced 10.175 million units and sold 10.06 million units, up 12.9 percent and 10.8 percent year-on-year. Among these, new energy vehicle (NEV) production and sales amounted to 4.429 million units and 4.3 million units, respectively, reflecting a 48.3 percent and 46.2 percent rise year-on-year. NEVs accounted for 42.7 percent of total new vehicle sales during this period.
