YANGON – The Ministry of Finance and Revenue has announced that the tax exemption period for imports of diesel, fertiliser, and liquefied natural gas has been extended by another month in July.
Due to the rising global fuel prices due to Middle East conflicts, there is a need to regulate the prices of basic food and goods transported by vehicles that use diesel fuel. The Ministry of Finance and Revenue has announced through state-owned newspapers that the customs duty, special goods tax, commercial tax, and 2 percent advance income tax collected on the import of diesel HSD (500 ppm) will be exempted from April 1 to June 30. The tax exemption period will be further extended from July 1 to 31. Therefore, the tax exemption will apply to diesel HSD (500 ppm) imported by opening an Import Declaration (ID) at the Customs Department until July 31.
Similarly, to ensure the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, which is the main foundation for the country’s economic development, and to reduce the production costs of farmers, it has been announced through state-owned newspapers that the 2 per cent advance income tax levied on the import of fertilisers will be exempted from April 1 to June 30.
This tax exemption will be further extended from July 1 to 31. Therefore, the tax exemption will apply to fertilisers imported by opening an Import Declaration (ID) at the Customs Department until July 31.
Similarly, while global fuel prices are rising due to the conflicts in the Middle East, the prices of Liquefied Natural Gas are also rising. In order to promote electricity generation and reduce electricity prices, the Ministry of Finance and Revenue has announced through state-owned newspapers that customs duties, trade taxes and advance income taxes on imports of Liquefied Natural Gas will be exempted from April 1 to June 30.
This tax exemption will be further extended from July 1 to 31. Therefore, the tax exemption will apply to imported Liquefied Natural Gas by opening an Import Declaration (ID) at the Customs Department until July 31.
