MANILA – “Tumabi ka d’yan! Dun ka na!” is the perfect battle cry against in-game enemies—I myself can attest to this because I’ve been listening to SB19’s fun diss track “Dungka” (from their recent “Simula at Wakas” EP) to get hyped when I play video games, fighting against bosses and competing guilds.
Newly released fighting game “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves” gets what I mean because they’ve just released a collaboration with the P-pop Kings for a special music video that features the loud Pinoy banger “Dungka.”
The game, published by SNK Corporation, is the seventh installment in the “Fatal Fury” series, introducing new features like the “Rev” system that allows for special moves and attacks, two control schemes, several new characters, match modes, and a distinct art style. (Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo also makes an appearance as a character in-game!)
In line with the game’s “Rev it up” tagline, SNK Corporation tapped an international roster of DJs and artists to collaborate on special music videos that blend the featured artists’ performances with cinematic battle sequences from the game.
The collaboration music video of SB19’s “Dungka” features the “Fatal Fury” character Tizoc, a pro-wrestler known as “an invincible symbol of justice,” making his return to the ring.
Fans know the boys of SB19 are gamers themselves. “We are truly honored to collaborate with a distinguished title celebrated for its sophisticated combat system and exceptional gameplay,” they say in a statement. “As avid enthusiasts of interactive video games, we are thrilled by the opportunity to contribute to a project of this scale and significance. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to SNK Corporation for initiating this partnership and entrusting us with the chance to be part of such an iconic franchise.”
Other artist collaborations announced so far include J-pop singer Ado and Thai rapper and singer Milli.
SB19 will soon embark on their world tour, kicking off at the Philippine Arena this May 31 and June 1.
