LOS ANGELES – As the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix approaches, Bianca Bustamante is brimming with determination and nostalgia.
The Filipino racer reflects on her journey as she prepares for the upcoming race on Sept. 20. The first-ever Filipina McLaren Development driver took to Instagram to express her emotions about the road that has led her to this pivotal moment.
In her post, she shared a message that highlighted her growth and resilience over the past two years of competing.
“A little bit nostalgic preparing for the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix :(( I’ll never forget this journey,” she wrote in the caption. “I remember two years ago today, 17-year-old Bia experiencing her first heartbreak. Finding out it would be her last race in Singapore due to WSeries’ lack of funding to finish the season was devastating.”
The memory of that difficult period was a reminder of how far Bustamante has come. Despite the challenges, she has remained steadfast in her pursuit of racing excellence.
“I really thought it was over then,” Bustamante admitted, acknowledging the emotional toll the setback had taken on her. “But yesterday and today, we continued to fight. Now, I’m giving everything I’ve got to prepare for next week.”
She concluded her post with a light message, accompanied by an orange heart for her “papaya family”: “Can’t wait to see y’all very soon and to be back home in Asia with my papaya family. Hihi!”
After a less-than-ideal performance at the Zandvoort race, where she unfortunately did not score points, Bustamante is more determined than ever to make a strong comeback. The race in Zandvoort did not unfold as she had hoped, but her drive and mindset are focused on turning things around in Singapore.
With her eyes set on the future and her heart full of hope, the Filipina racer is ready to embrace the challenges ahead. As she prepares to race on the familiar streets of Singapore, her fans and supporters are eagerly awaiting her return to form.
One user commented, “Keep shining and uplifting.”
