LOS ANGELES – Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez has made history as the first Filipino and Asian contestant to win “The Voice.”
Vasquez, from Team Bublé, was crowned the winner of “The Voice” Season 26 at the grand finale that was broadcast live Tuesday night.
His victory comes after weeks of impressive performances. Upon reaching the Top 5, Vasquez expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his supporters on social media, saying, “Thank you so much to my Filipinos everywhere and in America who gave so much love and support.”
From his very first audition, Vasquez stood out as a fan favorite. The Tawag ng Tanghalan alumnus left an unforgettable impression when he performed Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down” during the blind auditions.
His soulful rendition earned the praise of all four coaches – Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani – who all turned their chairs in admiration.
Vasquez’s vocal prowess and stage presence were immediately evident, signaling that he was a force to be reckoned with as he joined Team Buble.
Throughout the season, Vasquez’s performances continued to inspire both his fellow contestants and viewers at home.
In the grand finale, he delivered a powerful rendition of “A Million Dreams,” capturing the song’s themes of hope and ambition as he set his sights on becoming the next winner.
Another standout moment was his performance of Sia’s “Unstoppable,” a fitting anthem that showcased his resilience and determination, having previously competed in “Tawag ng Tanghalan” in the Philippines.
Jeremy Beloate secured fifth place, while Danny Joseph finished in fourth. Sydney Sterlace claimed third place, with Shye taking second in the season-long competition.
The competition, determined by online votes, saw Vasquez overcome various challenges, proving time and time again that he is truly unstoppable.
With his $100,000 grand prize and recording contract, the future is bright for Vasquez, whose journey on “The Voice” has proven that dreams do come true.
