MELAKA – PAS would rather be the Opposition instead of joining hands with parties whose leaders are facing corruption charges, says party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
“PAS has been part of the Opposition for decades. We don’t want a dirty government. Our principles are still the same,” he said at a press conference here on Tuesday (Nov 15).
However, he said collaborating with “clean” leaders from Barisan Nasional was another story altogether.
Abdul Hadi also refuted any possibility of Perikatan Nasional working with Pakatan Harapan.
“Pakatan is too extreme as they have freed the corrupted, with pardons not according to the proper processes and even criminals are now leaders.
“As for Barisan, we still know there are leaders who have to attend to court cases.
“We eagerly awaited the Umno general assembly before GE15 in the hope of clean leaders from Barisan alongside a leadership change for Umno, but none of this happened, and instead we are facing the elections,” he said.
