Grief grips Rawatgaun as earthquake devastates

Urmila Rawat and Chandrakala Rawat of Rawatgaun in Bheri Municipality-1 of Jajarkot district, the epicentre of the deadly earthquake that occurred on Friday, are in immense grief.

They are stunned by the magnitude of devastation caused by the earthquake.

The Rawat sisters have been losing their consciousness in quick succession and wailing ever since the quake crumbled their house late Friday night, killing their sons and daughters and other relatives.

Elder sister Urmila lost her two sons in the quake while a son and a daughter of Chandrakala were buried to death under the rubble.

Six members of the same family in the remote village died in the quake that rattled through Jajarkot bringing down houses. Most of the houses in the village are in ruins while the families of the deceased are in mourning.
