Hepatitis C clinic opens in Yangon

Patients with hepatitis C are being treated with free viral load testing, free antiviral treatment, and free follow-up testing three months after treatment to determine whether the treatment was successful.

YANGON – A Hepatitis C clinic has been opened at the Yangon General Hospital’s outpatient department and is providing free treatment, according to Yangon General Hospital.

The Hepatitis C clinic at Yangon General Hospital’s Specialized Outpatient Department is now open every Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and offers treatment.

Similarly, the Yangon General Hospital’s outpatient department regularly provides general medical treatment, surgery, heart and blood pressure and diabetes treatment, neurology, surgery, gastrointestinal treatment, maxillofacial, dental and oral diseases, orthopedic treatment, skin treatment, and mental health treatment every Friday from 2 to 4 pm.

In the event of a power outage in Yangon Region, some gas turbines are being operated separately to provide electricity to large hospitals, according to a statement from the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC).
