Hero’s welcome for Brunei’s para athletes

The delegation secured a total of six medals, comprising one gold, three silver and two bronze.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Brunei Darussalam Para contingent returned home yesterday to a hero’s welcome after an impressive showing at the 13th ASEAN Para Games 2025 in Thailand, where they secured a total of six medals comprising one gold, three silver and two bronze.

Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan as well as officials from the MCYS welcomed the 21-member contingent at the Brunei International Airport.

Kamarul Ariffin bin Haji Abd Ghaffar managed to secure one gold medal in the TPB2 Tenpin Bowling Single and a silver medal together with Saidin bin Haji Damit in the TPB2 + TPB2 Tenpin Bowling Double.

Saidin also collected a bronze medal in TPB2 Tenpin Bowling Single.

Meanwhile Haji Mohd Rudy Izman bin Haji Badar claimed a silver medal in the Men Shot Put F53, F54 event and Nor Hensan binti Haji Mataha achieved a silver medal in the Women Shot Put F11.

In the Men’s Javelin F34 Para Athletic Alihan bin Muda managed to bring home a bronze medal. – James Kon
