The activists are in Taiwan for a visit.
Hong Kong student activist and secretary-general of pro-democracy party Demosistō Joshua Wong will arrive in Taiwan today to meet with top officials from the New Power Party (NPP) and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), as well as attend a discussion event in Taichung.
Wong will be joined by Hong Kong lawmaker Eddie Chu and Lester Shum, former deputy secretary-general of the Hong Kong Federation of Students (HKFS).
They will meet with NPP Chairman Hsu Yung-ming, NPP Legislator Huang Kuo-chang and NPP caucus director Chen Hui-min Tuesday afternoon to talk about the current situation in Hong Kong, as well as to exchange views with counterparts in Taiwan.
The three will also visit the DPP headquarters in Taipei, where they will hold a closed-door meeting with party Chairman Cho Jung-tai, Secretary-General Luo Wen-jia and Deputy Secretary-General Lin Fei-fan.
Under the invitation of the Light Foundation, founded by transportation minister Lin Chia-lung, Wong alongside Chu and Shum will join in on a discussion forum hosted by Lin Fei-fan Tuesday evening in Taichung.
Freddy Lim, who quit the NPP on Aug. 1, will also be at the event.
The three Hong Kong democracy activists will return to Taipei on Wednesday to take part in another democracy discussion organized by the Light Foundation to be held at the Mayor’s Residence Art Salon in the evening.
