HONG KONG – Hong Kong swimmer Ng Cheuk-yun secured the city’s first medal at the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou on Monday morning.
Ng won the bronze in the Women’s 100m Backstroke S6 after finishing with a time of 1:33.37 at the HOC Aquatic Sports Arena.
In a statement, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung Yun-hung congratulated Ng for her win.
“Ng gave it her all in the competition and won the first medal for the Hong Kong, China delegation. It encourages many other Hong Kong athletes,” Yeung said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing more breakthroughs made by Hong Kong athletes and success in more events.”

The 176-strong Hong Kong, China delegation will participate in 11 events, including badminton, athletics, and fencing, during the games, which opened on Sunday and will conclude on Oct 28.
