HONG KONG – The first instalment of e-vouchers under the 2023 Consumption Voucher Scheme will be distributed to about 6.4 million residents on April 16, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government said Wednesday.

The SAR government said in a statement that those who successfully registered under the CVS last year will receive the first instalment on Sunday, with permanent residents and new arrivals getting a HK$3,000 ($382.16) voucher.

The HKSAR government earlier announced that it was distributing HK$5,000 in e-vouchers this year and the second instalment will be disbursed from July 16 onwards

Eligible persons who have come to live in Hong Kong through different admission programs for talents, professionals and entrepreneurs, and to study in Hong Kong, will receive a $1,500 voucher.

The HKSAR government earlier announced that it was distributing HK$5,000 in e-vouchers this year and the second instalment will be disbursed from July 16 onwards.

Those using AlipayHK, BoC Pay, Octopus, PayMe from HSBC, Tap & Go and WeChat Pay HK to get their e-voucher will receive SMS notifications or mobile app push notifications on Sunday.

“The government reminds people using Octopus to receive vouchers that they should collect the first-instalment voucher with the same Octopus card used for collecting vouchers last year,” the statement reads.

“If that Octopus card has been returned or lost, they should use the Octopus card that has been registered through an application for amendment of registration record to collect the voucher instead,” it added.

Due to the stored value limit of Octopus cards, those who are not able to collect the full amount can get the remaining value after they have spent the initial amount their received.

The SAR government said the stored value facility accounts of around 7,000 recipients have become invalid but they have yet to update their registration record.

These people may submit an application to update their record and their voucher will be disbursed on a date later than April 16.

The SAR government said it will arrange with the relevant SVF operators to disburse the first-instalment voucher to them as soon as possible, and they will be informed of the specific date separately.
