NEW DELHI – The body of a 30-year-old man was recovered from a drum, wrapped in blue plastic, in the Khairthal-Tijara area of Alwar district, Rajasthan, police said on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Hansraj, also known as Suraj, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

The incident came to light on August 17, when the landlord’s wife noticed a foul smell emanating from the drum. Upon opening it, the police discovered the body, which had been sprinkled with salt. The post-mortem report confirmed death by strangulation.
