Indian epic Mahabharat gets AI treatment, to premiere on online streaming platform on October 25

With the latest AI technology, the series brings to life the vast Mahabharat world, vividly portraying its heroes, titanic battles, feelings, and moral dilemmas with cinematic splendor and graphic realism.

NEW DELHI – India’s ageless epic, Mahabharat, is coming alive in a revolutionary AI-driven adaptation, this month. The series will have an exclusive launch on the WAVES OTT platform on October 25, before it goes on air on television on Doordarshan every Sunday from November 2.

Digital audiences throughout India and worldwide will simultaneously be able to watch the series on WAVES OTT.

With the latest AI technology, the series brings to life the vast Mahabharat world, vividly portraying its heroes, titanic battles, feelings, and moral dilemmas with cinematic splendor and graphic realism.

Gaurav Dwivedi, the CEO of Prasar Bharati, stated, “Prasar Bharati has always endeavored to take stories of national and cultural significance to every home. The lockdown boost to the original Mahabharat reinforced the way these stories engage generations. This AI-reinterpretation brings audiences a new, immersive experience of one of India’s greatest sagas, merging tradition and new-age storytelling technology. It is a coming together of heritage and innovation on current broadcast platforms.”

The initiative is in line with the vision of Make in India and Digital India, demonstrating how cultural heritage and technological innovation can progress together, a statement from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting stated.
