ISLAMABAD – Rumour has it that Shah Rukh Khan is in early discussions with Marvel Studios for a role in a future project within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), according to Times of India.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, several Indian news outlets have been citing an X handle called MarvelLeaks22’, dubbing it a “trustable source” for all things Marvel. The page shared the “news/rumour” on the micro-blogging platform Friday, and the very suggestion of Khan stepping into superhero territory in Hollywood had fans and industry watchers abuzz.
The post specifically ruled out a role in Avengers: Doomsday — the much-anticipated next chapter in the Avengers saga — but suggested that another Marvel project could be in the works for the superstar.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Anthony Mackie, who now wields the shield as the new Captain America, sang Khan’s praises in an interview in February. Naming Khan his top pick for a Bollywood actor to join the MCU, Mackie called him “the damn best,” expressing genuine excitement over the idea of the Bollywood icon becoming an Avenger.
Before this, Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) also spoke of Khan with admiration, supporting the idea of his inclusion in the superhero universe, especially considering his immense global appeal.
The Disney+ series Ms. Marvel also featured the Swades track ‘Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera’ as a subtle homage to his legacy.
Despite being one of the world’s most recognisable movie stars, Khan has yet to make his Hollywood debut. However, his international fanbase, commanding screen presence, and box office draw make him a formidable contender for the MCU’s expanding global vision.
While Marvel Studios and Khan’s camp remain tight-lipped, the very notion of Bollywood’s King joining forces with the world’s biggest superhero franchise has ignited a wave of excitement across continents. For now, fans can only wait and hope that this dream collaboration becomes a reality.
