PHNOM PENH – Cambodian businesses are gearing up to participate in the highly anticipated 40th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2025, after a successful information session hosted by the Indonesian embassy in Phnom Penh.
The September 12 information session — which took place ahead of the Expo’s October 15 opening at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition in BSD City, Indonesia — sparked considerable interest among local entrepreneurs who are seeking to expand their business networks and explore potential partnerships with Indonesian counterparts.
The expo is Indonesia’s premier business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) exhibition, and is organised by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade.
“Spanning three main sectors — Food, Beverages and Agriculture Products; Manufactured Products; and Services and Lifestyle Products — TEI is set to attract a diverse group of exhibitors and visitors from around the world,” said an embassy statement.
Ambassador Santo Darmosumarto addressed the information session, emphasising Indonesia’s commitment to being a reliable and long-term supplier of products which are in demand by Cambodian consumers.
He called on Cambodian businesses to seize this opportunity to attend the Expo, highlighting the benefits of connecting with quality products and services, as well as the potential for establishing fruitful business relationships with Indonesian companies.
“TEI is a crucial platform for Cambodian businesses to expand their networks and strengthen their presence in the Southeast Asian market,” said Santo.
“This year, the Expo will not only feature an impressive range of products but also include B2B business matching sessions, trade missions, international seminars, business counselling and opportunities for signing MoUs, LoIs and contracts,” he added.
Last year, the TEI welcomed over 40,000 visitors, including 1,400 exhibitors and 8,042 buyers. The event generated $22.7 billion in potential transactions, underscoring its significance as a major trade event in the region.
In recognition of its role in promoting Indonesian exports abroad, the embassy of Indonesia in Cambodia was honoured with the prestigious Primaduta Award from the Indonesian government.
While several Indonesian products have already made their mark in the Cambodian market, embassy officials believe there are numerous untapped opportunities for Indonesian goods to further penetrate the local market.
According to the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE), bilateral trade between Cambodia and Indonesia reached $704,307 in the first eight months of 2025, making Indonesia Cambodia’s 10th largest trade partner.
Over the past two years, bilateral trade has consistently topped $1 billion annually, reflecting a solid and growing economic relationship between the two nations.
The embassy is eager to strengthen this bilateral trade cooperation. As part of its efforts, it organised the “Sousdey Indonesia 2025” trade and tourism promotion event in Cambodia in June.
Additionally, the embassy has facilitated business trips to various Cambodian provinces to explore further economic collaboration between the two countries.
