This came after the Japanese government recently decided to raise single-entry visa fees for foreigners from 3,000 yen to 15,000 yen beginning in July.

MANILA – The Japanese Embassy in Manila on Thursday clarified that temporary visitor visas for Filipino nationals staying in Japan for up to 90 days will remain free.

This came after the Japanese government recently decided to raise single-entry visa fees for foreigners from 3,000 yen to 15,000 yen beginning in July.

The Japanese Embassy in Manila issued an advisory stating that temporary visitor visas for Filipinos are not included in the hike.

“Please note that Temporary Visitor Visa (for stay within 90 days at maximum) for Philippine Nationals remains as gratis,” it said.

This is the first time the Japanese government has increased its single-entry visa fees since 1978.

The increase comes amid inflation and the yen’s depreciation.
