Kuala Lumpur is 18th best city in the world: Survey

In the survey by Britons Ranking, Kuala Lumpur was ahead of other popular cities such as the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abu Dhabi (21st) and UAE’s Dubai (31st).

KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur has upstaged more popular cities such as Las Vegas in a recent survey, taking the 18th spot in a list of 37 world’s best cities.

In the survey by Britons Ranking, Kuala Lumpur was ahead of other popular cities such as the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abu Dhabi (21st) and UAE’s Dubai (31st).

Las Vegas, a popular tourist destination renowned for casinos and entertainment in the United States, took the bottom spot in the survey published by British newspaper Daily Mail.

Australia’s Sydney took first place where it was praised for its “spectacular” scenery and “buzzing” atmosphere, earning a score of 88%.

This is followed by Cape Town in South Africa, which scored 85% and Chicago in the United States at 84%.

Other Asian cities that fared better than Kuala Lumpur were Japan’s Kyoto in fourth place, followed by Singapore in the fifth spot. Japan’s Tokyo took the eighth place.

Thailand’s Bangkok came in 12th place while Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam was just one spot above Kuala Lumpur at 17th. 

Two Asian cities in the list that finished below Kuala Lumpur were Hong Kong in 19th place, New Delhi, India, and Hanoi, Vietnam, in the 22nd and 23rd spot, respectively.

The survey is based on feedback from 1,800 respondents who answered based on their own experience of travelling the world outside of Europe since three years ago.
