KAJANG – In an unusual turn of events, a stray female tapir found itself in the middle of a rescue operation after wandering into Bandar Teknologi Kajang, Selangor.
The Selangor State Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) conducted the rescue after receiving a complaint from the management of Surau Al-Hidayah.
The gentle creature, bearing its distinctive black and white markings, appeared to have lost its way from its natural habitat and ended up within the surau’s vicinity.
Initial examinations found the tapir to be in good health, considering the potential dangers or human-wildlife conflict that may occur when wildlife ventures into populated areas.
The Perhilitan team managed to safely secure and transport the tapir, releasing it back into a more suitable and safe natural habitat.
The Malayan tapir, an endangered species, faces ongoing threats. Conservation efforts are ongoing to ensure the survival of these adorable animals.
