YANGON – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Malaysian Foreign Minister returned to Nay Pyi Taw the same day and held a meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries on May 19.
The delegation led by the Malaysian Foreign Minister arrived in Nay Pyi Taw on a special flight on the afternoon of May 19 and was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs U Naing Min Kyaw and officials at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport.
Then, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe met with a delegation led by Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Sri Utama Haji Mohamed bin Haji Hassan, who arrived in Nay Pyi Taw on a working visit, on May 19 and hosted a working lunch at the MGallery Hotel.
During the meeting, the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed bilateral relations between Myanmar and Malaysia and ways to enhance cooperation on ASEAN-related issues.
In addition, they exchanged views on enhancing existing cooperation in areas of mutual interest between the two countries.
The delegation led by the Malaysian Foreign Minister reportedly left for Malaysia on the evening of May 19.
