Malaysia’s ex-PM Mahathir hospitalised with hip fracture after fall at home

The centenarian's press secretary Sufi Yusoff said the ex-prime minister is expected to be hospitalised for a few weeks at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.

KUALA LUMPUR – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has suffered a fracture in his right hip after falling at his residence on Tuesday (Jan 6) morning.

His press secretary Sufi Yusoff said the ex-prime minister is expected to be hospitalised for a few weeks at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.

“Tun M is expected to be admitted for the next few weeks for treatment and observation,” he told the media via WhatsApp.

Dr Mahathir was admitted to IJN at around 9.30am after his fall.
