PHNOM PENH – Ten puppies were born to mining detection dogs on May 11, according to the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC).
CMAC said the litter includes three females and seven males. Their mother, Lory, was bred with Khav, a third-generation Belgian Malinois.
It added that the puppies will be trained in the detection of landmines and unexploded ordnance.
CMAC director-general Heng Ratana took to social media to express his pleasure at the births.
“Congratulations to the new litter that were born on May 11. These 10 puppies will go on to be brave fighters in the Kingdom’s battle with unexploded ordnance. Previous litters have grown exceptionally well,” he said.
In April, 13 puppies were born to another of CMAC’s mine-detecting canines.
