Mobile court demolishes five illegal brick kilns in Bangladesh

Local farmers said that these illegal brick kilns were built on agricultural land a few years ago and had repeatedly complained about it.

LALMONIRHAT – Five brick kilns that were illegally built on agricultural land have been demolished by the mobile courts in three upazilas of Lalmonirhat.

Two of these brick kilns are at Aditmari upazila, two are at Kaliganj upazila and one is located in Patgram upazila. The mobile court was conducted by the Upazila Nirbahi Officers of the respective upazilas on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

The demolished illegal brick kilns are MJA-2 Bricks and BBMC Bricks at Dalgram union in Kaliganj upazila, SUN-2 Bricks and LMB Bricks at Saptibari union in Aditmari upazila, and PGMC Bricks at Kuchlibari union in Patgram upazila.

Local farmers said that these illegal brick kilns were built on agricultural land a few years ago. The farmers had complained against the illegal brick kilns many times.

They are happy now that the brick kilns have been demolished.

Executive Magistrate and Patgram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jillur Rahman said that the illegal brick kiln has been demolished for violating Sections 4 and 4 (ka) of the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act, 2013. All illegal brick kilns will be demolsihed as per the order of the High Court Division.
