ULAANBAATAR – On June 24, the Cabinet of Mongolia formally reviewed and supported the draft “Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Korea on Defense Cooperation” during its regular session.

Following the successful discussion, the Cabinet resolved to advance the draft by initiating official consultations with the relevant Standing Committees of the Parliament.

The imminent conclusion of this updated agreement represents a significant step forward in expanding the strategic defense partnership between the two nations. The newly established framework will directly facilitate the organization of mutual military visits and defense consultations at all command levels.

Furthermore, the comprehensive agreement is designed to enhance the specialized training of military personnel, deepen collaborative relations between military academies and scientific research institutions, and pave the way for regular joint military training exercises.

Formal defense relations and bilateral security cooperation between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea were initially established in 1999 following the signing of the foundational “Agreement between the Ministry of Defense of Mongolia and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea on Cooperation in the Military Sector”.
