Multiple sharp-force injuries killed South Korean first-grade student: police

SEOUL – Authorities confirmed Wednesday that the first-grade student who was brutally killed by her teacher had died from “multiple sharp-force injuries.”

According to the Daejeon Seobu Police Station, the National Forensic Service completed the autopsy and determined that the student had sustained multiple fatal wounds caused by a sharp-edged weapon.

With the forensic results now confirmed, police have ramped up their investigation into the suspect, a female teacher in her 40s.

Law enforcement has initiated a full-scale probe into the suspect, including a search and seizure operation for her residence and vehicle. Investigators retrieved the suspect’s mobile phone from the crime scene and are currently undergoing digital forensics to examine potential motives and communications leading up to the attack.

The suspect, who had a history of depression dating back to 2018, previously admitted to authorities that she had been receiving medical treatment. Police have since obtained her medical records to further assess her mental health condition at the time of the attack.
