ISLAMABAD – The Men in Green may have most of the limelight when it comes to cricket in Pakistan but women cricketers are quietly stepping up and letting their success make all the noise. Wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali just became the first batter from Pakistan to score a century in the Women’s T20 World Cup and the sixth woman to do so overall. Her-story made.
Ali set up an impressive win for Pakistan in the World Cup with a match-changing century against Ireland in Cape Town on Wednesday. The 70-run triumph put Pakistan in the third spot in the group with two points after England and India secured first and second positions, respectively. Twitter is all praises for the player, patting her back and rooting for the Pakistan women’s team.
The ICC marked this as “the first hundred by a Pakistan player in women’s T20Is”. According to ESPN, Ali is the sixth woman to score a century overall.

A proud moment for Pakistan.
Take a bow Muneeba Ali. A truly special innings. The highest score in this World Cup so far, the first ever century and in fact, the highest score by a Pakistani woman in T20is ever. A HUGE moment for Pakistani cricket. Absolutely wonderful! #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/8x4P7kgfNQ

Imagine what they’d do with “proper support and coaching”.
Muneeba Ali departs for 102 after becoming the first centurion for Pakistan in T20 World Cups. THIS is what your women are doing without any proper support & coaching. THIS is what they’re doing despite everything not because of anything except their talent & will.

Remember the name.
Muneeba Ali, no long the T20 player who could've been. Muneeba Ali, the T20 player that IS. A T20i hundred at the biggest stage, I have no words.
