NAYPYIDAW – Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt. Gen. Ya Pyay and Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security General Vilay LAKHAMPONG met to discuss the identification and extradition of terrorist organizations and members between the two countries .
The above point was discussed at the (9th) ministerial-level meeting between the Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar and the Ministry of Public Security of Laos held in Vientiane, Laos from January 21 to 23.
A high-level meeting between the Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar and the Ministry of Public Security of Laos was held on the morning of January 22, and in the afternoon, the (9th) ministerial-level meeting was held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Public Security in Vientiane.
The meeting was attended by senior officials led by Union Minister Lt. Gen. Ya Pyay and senior officials led by Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security General Vilay LAKHAMPONG.
The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation between Myanmar and Laos on security and law enforcement issues, jointly combating transnational crimes such as telecommunications fraud, cybercrime, cross-border gambling, drug trafficking and human trafficking, jointly assisting in the arrest of fugitives, cooperation between the Border Liaison Offices (BLOs) of the two countries, coordination and coordination in accordance with relevant domestic laws and procedures to prevent the illegal entry/exit of people and goods through the border areas of the two countries, identifying, arresting and detaining terrorist organizations and members who have committed crimes between the two countries and have been declared fugitives, and establishing a communication system between the two relevant ministries to prevent and suppress transnational crimes through real-time information exchange.
After the meeting, the two ministers exchanged signatures on the minutes of the meeting to continue to effectively and efficiently implement the points discussed.
During the visit, they discussed security and law enforcement cooperation between Myanmar and Laos, as well as issues of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
