Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 2 to reopen in coming days

YANGON – Preparations are underway to reopen the Myanmar-Thailand Myawaddy-Mae Sot No. 2 Friendship Trade Bridge in the coming days, according to a report in Thai TBS News.

The Myawaddy-Maesot Myawaddy Friendship Bridge, a key trade bridge on the East-West Economic Corridor, was temporarily closed to commercial vehicles on August 18, 2025.

A border trader said that despite reports that Friendship Bridge No. 2 will be opened for border trade, no relevant authorities have yet made any announcements.

After the suspension of cargo traffic from Friendship Bridge No. 2, official border trade also came to a halt. The reopening of Friendship Bridge No. 2 will significantly improve the economy and trade flows in the border region.
