NAYPYIDAW – Nearly 1,500 Burmese workers legally employed at a factory in Thailand have reportedly been laid off.
The Ministry of Labor announced that 1,450 Myanmar workers working at Cal-Comp Electronics, an electrical equipment factory in Phitsanulok, Thailand, were laid off on September 30. The Myanmar workers were legally employed, and the Labor Commissioner’s Office is visiting the factory to investigate the situation, the Ministry of Labor said in a statement.
The workers at the factory were reportedly laid off after three months.
