Nepal reports first Covid-19 death in over three months

The last time the country witnessed Covid-19-related death was on January 7.

KATHMANDU – Nepal on Tuesday reported the first Covid-19 death in 94 days.

The last time the country witnessed Covid-19-related death was on January 7. The countrywide death toll has reached 12,021 since the pandemic began, the Health Ministry said.

The country reported 74 new PCR-confirmed coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 1,001,951.

Similarly, 32 people tested positive in a total of 1,960 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Tuesday, 6,024,727 PCR and 1,551,516 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 476 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

According to the ministry, 989,461 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 48 of them in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 469.

On Tuesday, 13 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another five were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Monday had reported 77 new PCR-confirmed coronavirus cases. Likewise, 50 new PCR-confirmed coronavirus cases were reported on Tuesday.
