PETALING JAYA – The government has absolutely no plans to limit the purchase of RON95 to once a day, says the Finance Ministry.
The ministry said while the government is reviewing measures to prevent the misuse of RON95 subsidies, the Budi95 initiative was introduced with the aim of ensuring that the daily needs of Malaysians can be met.
“A one-purchase-per-day limit is clearly not in line with that objective,” it said.
The ministry was referring to several reports which it said had inaccurately reported that the Government would limit the purchase of RON95 to once a day.
On Monday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Malaysians with a MyKad and valid driving licence will enjoy 300 litres of subsidised RON95 per month at the price of RM1.99, while e-hailing drivers can apply for a higher amount.
