Over 18,000 arrested in nationwide special drive since May 1: Bangladesh Police

Police say the operation led to the arrest of a large number of suspects involved in various criminal activities.

DHAKA – A total of 18,328 people have been arrested since May 1 under an ongoing special nationwide drive, according to Police Headquarters.

In a release issued today, police said 1,958 of those arrested were identified as individuals involved in creating instability, along with planners and accomplices.

The operation has also led to the arrest of a large number of suspects involved in various criminal activities.

Among those detained were 331 illegal arms holders, 10,020 smugglers and drug traders, 2,211 muggers and robbers, and 808 extortionists and other criminals.
