Philippine building collapse death toll reaches 20

ANGELES – Rescuers recovered three more bodies from the rubble of the collapsed nine-story building under construction in Barangay Balibago here on Tuesday afternoon as search, rescue, and retrieval operations continued.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said responders were initially working to gain access to a victim whose body had been located at 11:10 a.m. The operation later led to the discovery of two additional victims. All three bodies were extricated between 1:13 p.m. and 1:19 p.m.

Earlier in the day, rescuers recovered three other bodies between 4:08 a.m. and 2:07 p.m., further raising the death toll to 20.

Two of the latest fatalities were identified as Emmanuel Bonanzia Marcos and Renante Marcelino Pastor. Authorities have yet to release the identities of the other victims pending verification and notification of their families.
