The Marcoses were welcomed by Acting Head of State and Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse, Samdech Kittiprittbindit Bun Rany Hun Sen, on behalf of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

In the evening, Marcos will meet with the Filipino community, composed largely of professionals in education and services, to recognize their contributions to the economic and socio-cultural development of both the Philippines and Cambodia.

On September 8, his schedule includes a summit with Acting Head of State Hun Sen, a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, and a business roundtable with key business leaders from both countries.

The Philippines and Cambodia will sign agreements on combating transnational crime, higher education, and air services during the state visit, Foreign Affairs spokesperson Angelica Escalona said at a Palace briefing on Friday.

Marcos will also seek Cambodia’s support for the Philippines’ chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 2026.

The visit comes at the invitation of the King of Cambodia. It reciprocates the Cambodian prime minister’s official visit to the Philippines in February 2025.

The last state visit to Cambodia by a Philippine president took place in 2016.
