PETALING JAYA – Plan your journey ahead and use alternative routes following the road closures during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s three-day state visit to Malaysia, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He urged the public to plan their travels early to ensure a smooth journey before Xi’s visit from Tuesday (April 15) to Thursday (April 17).
He said this following the planned road diversions and closures in stages by the police involving 17 roads around the Klang Valley and Putrajaya to ensure that the official visit would go safely and smoothly.
“The Prime Minister has also urged all public transport providers to ensure adequate service during this period,” said Anwar’s senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, at the daily briefing from the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday (April 14).
“The Prime Minister stated that, although this visit is taking place during challenging geopolitical and geoeconomic times impacting the region, it had been planned earlier as part of efforts to strengthen the relationship between the two countries,” said Tunku Nashrul.
As the chair of Asean for 2025, he said Malaysia was responsible for upholding inclusivity and regional harmony.
After Xi’s visit, Anwar is expected to travel to Thailand on Thursday for a working visit.
“The Prime Minister will also meet the State Administration Council in Bangkok, which will include the Myanmar prime minister to discuss humanitarian aid for those affected by the earthquake in Myanmar,” Tunku Nashrul said.
