JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto swore in on Monday 48 ministers and five heads of ministerial-level agencies at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, with key economic ministers of his predecessor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo retaining their posts.
Prabowo first unveiled his cabinet line up on Sunday evening after he took the oath of office, and named his cabinet “Merah Putih” (Red-and-White cabinet), referring to the colors of Indonesia’s national flag.
Seventeen appointees were ministers in the administration of former president Jokowi and will either continue their jobs under Prabowo’s presidency or serve in new posts.
Those retaining the same jobs in Prabowo’s cabinet include Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani.

Luhut Pandjaitan, a close ally of Jokowi who served as coordinating maritime affairs and investment minister in the former Indonesia Maju (Indonesia Onward) cabinet has been appointed to lead the National Economic Council.
Unlike other newly appointed ministers, former Army general Luhut only showed up on Sunday immediately prior to the inauguration.
Pratikno, another close ally of Jokowi who served as state secretary throughout the latter’s presidency, will have a new role as coordinating public affairs minister in Prabowo’s cabinet.
