ULAANBAATAR – Preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17) are continuing as planned.
On July 17, 2026, Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth J.Aldarjavkhlan, together with senior officials from the ministry, visited the project site to review preparations for cultural and artistic events, stage arrangements, and program development overseen by the Culture and Tourism Subcommittee.
During the visit, the working group was instructed to strengthen coordination and information-sharing among the conference subcommittees, finalize the program for the opening and closing ceremonies, and ensure the unified organization and timely preparation of all planned activities.
UNCCD COP17, which will be held in Mongolia for the first time, is expected to bring together representatives from more than 190 countries and international organizations. The conference is also seen as an important opportunity to showcase Mongolia’s cultural heritage and tourism potential to the international community.
