President, PM congratulate CP Radhakrishnan on election as 15th Vice President of India

He defeated INDIA bloc candidate Justice B. Sudershan Reddy by 152 votes in the election held between 10 am and 5 pm.

NEW DELHI – President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated CP Radhakrishnan on being elected the 15th Vice President of India.

In a post on X, the President said “Congratulations to Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan on being elected as the Vice-President of India! Your decades of rich experience in public life will contribute significantly to the nation’s progress. I extend my best wishes to you for a successful and impactful tenure.”

Prime Minister Modi also extended his greetings to Radhakrishnan on his victory in the 2025 Vice-Presidential election.

In a post on X, he wrote: “Congratulations to Thiru CP Radhakrishnan Ji on winning the 2025 Vice-Presidential election. His life has always been devoted to serving society and empowering the poor and marginalised. I am confident that he will be an outstanding Vice-President, who will strengthen our Constitutional values and enhance parliamentary discourse.”

NDA-backed nominee CP Radhakrishnan was declared elected as the 15th Vice-President on Tuesday.

He defeated INDIA bloc candidate Justice B. Sudershan Reddy by 152 votes in the election held between 10 am and 5 pm.

The Vice-Presidential election witnessed a 98.20 per cent turnout, with 767 out of 781 MPs casting their votes.

Radhakrishnan secured 452 first-preference votes, while Justice Reddy received 300. Fifteen votes were declared invalid.
