Punjab man shot dead by terrorists in Srinagar, area cordoned off

The man, identified as Amritsar resident Amritpal Singh, succumbed to injuries during treatment at a local hospital. Another person is grievously injured in the attack and has been evacuated for medical treatment, the police said.

NEW DELHI – Terrorists opened fire upon a Punjab man in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar, Kashmir Zone Police said on Wednesday.

The man, identified as Amritsar resident Amritpal Singh, succumbed to injuries during treatment at a local hospital.

Another person is grievously injured in the attack and has been evacuated for medical treatment, the police said.

“Terrorists fired upon a non-local identified as Amritpal Singh resident of Amritsar at Shaheed Gunj Srinagar, who succumbed to the injuries. One more person is grievously injured and evacuated for medical attention. Area has been cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir Zone Police wrote in a post on ‘X’.

Following the attack, the area has been cordoned off and security forces have launched a massive manhunt to nab the terrorists.

Visuals shared by news agency ANI showed heavy presence of security personnel, including CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the area.
