BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department has issued an advisory on active weather conditions expected to affect the country from tonight until Monday night (May 18), with heavy showers and thunderstorms forecast across several areas.
The country is currently in the intermonsoon phase, which typically persists until the end of May, contributing to unstable atmospheric conditions.
According to the forecast, showers – occasionally heavy and thundery – are expected, with wind gusts reaching up to 45km/h during or near thunderstorms.
Sea conditions in Brunei waters are expected to remain generally slight, with wave heights below 1.0 metre.
The department warned of a high risk of flash floods, landslides, fallen trees and roof damage during periods of heavy rain and gusty winds.
Members of the public, road users and fishermen have been advised to remain vigilant, monitor the latest weather updates, and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
The Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the situation and issue further advisories or warnings if necessary.
Latest weather information is available via the Brunei WX mobile application, the Weather Line 114, as well as the department’s website and official social media channels.
