Senior Chinese defence official investigated for serious violations

Bian Zhigang, deputy head of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, has long worked within China's defence science, technology, and industry system, and was appointed to his current position in February 2024.

BEIJING – Bian Zhigang, deputy head of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, China’s top anti-graft bodies announced on Wednesday.

The Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision released a statement regarding the probe.

Bian has long worked within China’s defense science, technology, and industry system, and was appointed to his current position in February 2024.
