BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Astronomy enthusiasts, families, and members of the public witnessed an extraordinary cosmic experience as they stayed overnight at the Luagan Lalak Forest Recreation Park, Kuala Belait, from Sunday to Monday to partake in ‘Explore the Milky Way’.
The gathering provided opportunities to witness the beauty of the cosmic universe, revealed through the darkness of the night sky, the Earth’s rotation, and the vastness of the galaxy.
It also served to promote and raise interest in developing a greater appreciation for the beauty of the night sky.
Some 19 participants, including secondary school students, government officers and representatives from the private sector, took part in the programme.
They observed the Milky Way with the naked eye, explored distant galaxies and planets such as Venus and Saturn through telescopes, and admired the waning gibbous Moon, marking the final stage after the full moon before entering the third quarter phase, as well as the Pleiades star cluster.
