HANOI – The Organising Committee of the State Funeral for General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng reported that between 7am and 7pm on July 25, as many as 1,565 delegations, comprising around 55,600 individuals, came to pay their respects and send condolences.
These included Party and State leaders, representatives from various ministries, localities, units, armed forces, diplomatic missions, international organisations, and friends, as well as compatriots. The ceremonies were held at the National Funeral Hall in Hà Nội, the Reunification Palace in Hồ Chí Minh City, and his hometown, Lại Đà village in Hà Nội.
In a deeply emotional atmosphere, delegations from the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, Việt Nam Fatherland Front, ministries, departments, armed forces, and many citizens from across the country gathered at the National Funeral Hall to honour General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.
General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, with nearly 60 years of service, made significant contributions to the Party and the nation. He was honoured with the Gold Star Order, the 55-year Party membership badge, and numerous other prestigious awards. His passing is a tremendous loss.
The memorial service for General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng will continue tomorrow from 7am to 1pm.
The funeral ceremony will take place at 1pm on July 26 at the National Funeral House, with burial at 3pm at Mai Dịch Cemetery, Hà Nội.
