Ukraine shelling renews invasion fears as Russia expels US diplomat

In Ukraine, Russian-backed rebels and Kyiv’s forces traded accusations that each had fired across the ceasefire line.

The virtual meeting took place despite growing concerns about Russia’s possible invasion of Ukraine.

It comes a day after Moscow said it was pulling back some of the troops deployed on its neighbour's borders.

According to the Russian lawmakers, the inhabitants of both regions have been living under shelling for eight years.

While Russia said it was ending some military drills, the alert level remains high in Washington.

Moscow did not say how many units were being withdrawn, and how far.

Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said China is closely monitoring the situation, with the embassy in Ukraine operating as usual.

For the first time in two years, the WEF plans to organize an in-person version of its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

The call between the leaders came hours after the US moved some forces out of Ukraine on Saturday.

Any conflict on Ukraine's border with Russia will have significant consequences for Asia.
