Make in India led to mushrooming of China bazaar: KCR

December 8, 2022

NEW DELHI – Taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his penchant for coining slogans, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Wednesday, said his “Make in India” initiative has led to mushrooming of China Bazaars everywhere while his “Sab ka saath sab ka vikaas” was only nonsense (bakwas).

At a time when state BJP leaders were accusing the chief minister of hiding due to embarrassment over his daughter’s “involvement” in the Delhi Liquor scam, Rao on Wednesday fired a fresh salvo inviting the prime minister for a debate over Make in India.

The chief minister was addressing a public meeting at Mothe in Jagtial district after inaugurating the newly constructed integrated collectorate complex as well as the new TRS office building. He also laid the foundation stone for the proposed Jagtial Medical College. Rao’s daughter and TRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha was also present on the dais at the chief minister’s programme in Jagtial.

“There is China bazaar in every gully, is this the Make in India you promised? Where are the India Bazaars?” asked Rao while pointing out from nail cutters, blades, chairs, sofa and crackers and even the national flag were all coming from China.

He went on to add that while no new major manufacturing company has established its unit in the country around 10,000 industries were shutdown, almost 50 lakh people lost their jobs ever since BJP came to power at the Centre.

He said about 10,000 investors left the country due to the policies followed by the Modi government. He slammed the Centre for trying to privatise the LIC and for allowing the plundering of banks by unscrupulous industrialists leading to a loss of Rs Rs14 lakh crore of public money.

KCR pointed out that Centre was only paying lip service to “Beti padao beti bachao” while cutting down the funds to Aganwadis. Rao even ridiculed BJP’s popular electoral slogan of “Sab ka saath sab ka vikas” saying it is all “bakwas (nonsense).
