PHNOM PENH – Despite the recent conflict at the Cambodia-Thailand border, the Ministry of Tourism has assured the world that Cambodia is safe and ready to offer a warm welcome to all international visitors.

In an August 1 announcement, the ministry firmly reassured the public, tourism associations, tour operators, the private sector and the media, as well as all domestic and international tourists that the Kingdom remains safe and secure for tourism and travel through international connected flights and many land border crossing points.

The ceasefire has come into force, fully restoring peace and stability in all areas of the Kingdom, including those previously affected by the recent border incident, explained the statement.

All of our breathtaking and scenic tourist sites remain completely safe and accessible and are fully operational, with the Cambodian people’s warm hospitality and caring nature, said the ministry.

Some of the must-visit destinations mentioned in the notice included the World Heritage Angkor Wat Temple, the vibrant capital of Phnom Penh and the golden sands and turquoise waters of Preah Sihanouk province, as well as the stress-free serene environs of Kampot and Kep coastal provinces, along with many community-based eco-tourism sites in the northeastern provinces.

“The Royal Government of Cambodia has taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety and protection of tourists, with national and local authorities closely monitoring the situation and maintaining stability throughout the country.

“Cambodia is deeply committed to the true values of peace, security, cultural respect and hospitality. Tourism remains a pillar of national pride and international friendship. As such, the safety and well-being of all tourists is and will always be our highest priority,” said the statement.

The ministry encouraged all tourists to continue their journeys across the Kingdom, to enjoy its rich heritage, warm hospitality and stunning landscapes, with full confidence in their safety.
