NAYPYIDAW – Unicef ​​Myanmar announced that it will provide 42,000 kyats per month to disabled children between the ages of two and 18.

Children with disabilities aged between two and 18 years old who have been verified as having severe or very severe disabilities and who have received a phone call notifying them of their participation in the support program will receive a monthly payment of 42,000 kyats, which will be paid directly to the beneficiary every two months via Wave Money, UNICEF said. A maximum of three people in a family will be supported, according to UNICEF.

UNICEF states that ineligibility includes situations where a beneficiary does not meet the criteria listed in the beneficiary section, a child with a disability does not live with the family, a child with a disability who has moved outside the designated area for a long period of time, has died, a child who was initially identified as disabled but is no longer disabled at the next screening, has disappeared, and the information provided in the registration cannot be verified correctly.

The grant will be used to purchase food for children with disabilities, medical care for those who are unwell, personal hygiene, purchase assistive technology for the disabled, rehabilitation work, education, and other areas.

UNICEF announced that the grant is a multi-purpose, unspecified grant scheme to provide families with adequate care, support and support for children with disabilities, supplementing family income and supporting families’ participation in society.
