Recently, there have been a number of fraudulent attempts to take large sums of money from foreigners, organizations and individuals under the guise of “issuing visas” and “extending residence permits” using the names of Immigration Agency and its officials.
For example, an investigation revealed that Citizen T received MNT 4 million from a foreigner under the name of extending the residence permit by using the name of an official, and the citizen was prosecuted by a law enforcement agency and sentenced to 400 hours of community service.
Also, citizen E, who was fired from the organization in 2021, tried to fraud MNT 7.2 million using the name of the organization and the case was transferred to the relevant organization on March 9.
Therefore, Immigration Agency warns that foreign citizens traveling to Mongolia for private purposes, as well as citizens, business entities and organizations inviting them, should not be victims of such false information and illegal actions.
