KUALA LUMPUR – A recent recording of a heartwarming rescue of a baby elephant by Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) officers has gone viral.
The incident took place on June 30 after eight Perhilitan officers from Jeli, Kelantan, were called to free a baby elephant trapped in a highway drain at Batu 13 Jalan Timur-Barat, Kelantan.
The one-minute long video showed the wildlife officers using an excavator to hoist the baby elephant out of the drain.
Even with the commotion and machinery close by, the mother elephant waited patiently by the drain.
Once rescued, the baby elephant was gently led back to the wild, rejoining its mother to safely cross the road.
